ABSTRACT

AIM: To evaluate the effect of anterior capsule polishing on visual quality after phacoemulsification.METHODS: Prospective randomized control study. A total of 65 patients(73 eyes)with age-related cataract who underwent phacoemulsification combined with intraocular lens(IOL)implantation in the Emergency General Hospital between November 2021 and June 2022 were included. These patients were randomly assigned to two groups, with one group(anterior polishing group)underwent anterior and posterior capsule polishing(30 cases, 35 eyes), while the other(control group)receive routine posterior capsule polishing(35 cases, 38 eyes). Best corrected visual acuity was observed at 1wk, 1, 3 and 6mo after operation. Area of anterior capsule orifice was measured at 3 and 6mo after operation. Meanwhile, posterior capsular opacification(P score), IOL tilt and decentration were recorded by Pentacam Scheimpflug system. In addition, wavefront aberration, Strehl ratio(SR)of point spread function(PSF)and modulation transfer function(MTF)were evaluated by OPD-Scan Ⅲ.RESULTS: At 1wk, 1, 3 and 6mo after operation, best corrected visual acuity in anterior polishing group is significantly better than that of control group(P<0.05). There were no significant differences in area of anterior capsule opening, P score, IOL decentration, SR of PSF and MTF between two groups at 3 and 6mo after operation(P>0.05). At 3mo follow-up, no significant differences in IOL tilt and wavefront aberration were measured between two groups either(P>0.05). However, IOL tilt [(1.65±0.60)° vs.(2.34±0.43)°, P<0.001] and wavefront aberration(0.03±0.01μm vs. 0.06±0.03μm, P<0.001)in anterior polishing group were significant lower compared to control group at 6mo after operation.CONCLUSION: 360° polishing of anterior and posterior capsule during phacoemulsification can improve best corrected visual quality, with reduced IOL tilt, lower wavefront aberration and better visual quality.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore the effect of narrative nursing plan on patients with cancer fatalism at the initial stage of radiotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Methods:Convenience sampling was used to select 126 patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma who were admitted to the Third Ward of Radiotherapy, Affiliated Tumor Hospital of Guangxi Medical University from July 2019 to June 2020 with cancer fatalism at the initial stage of radiotherapy. Among them, 62 cases from July to December 2019 were set as the control group, and 64 cases from January to June 2020 were set as the observation group. Routine nursing intervention and narrative nursing intervention were given respectively, and before the intervention (the second day after admission), after 7 weeks of intervention, the Fatalism Scale and Center for Epidemiologic Studies-Depression scale scores of the two groups were compared. Results:Before the intervention, the cancer fatalism and depression scores of the two groups were at a high level and the difference was not statistically significant ( P>0.05); after the implementation of the narrative nursing intervention program, the cancer fatalism and depression scores of the observation group were (37.23±6.12), (9.42±1.36) points, lower than (47.78±9.14), (15.65±2.03) points of the control group. There was statistical significance ( t values were 7.698, 7.524, P<0.05). Conclusion:In the early stage of radiotherapy, patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma have a strong concept of cancer fatalism, and narrative nursing intervention can effectively reduce their cancer fatalism and depression.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the preference relation between residence, sex, age and causes of accidental death of Chinese residents. Methods In this study, 72 residence-sex-age groups and 8 causes of accidental death were qualitatively and quantitatively analyzed by correspondence analysis using the official statistical yearbook issued from 2014 to 2018, and the preference values were calculated. Results Among the 576 pairs of correspondences between the residence-sex-age groups and causes of accidental death, 352 pairs (61.11%) showed a preference relation (preference value>0). In terms of residence and sex, accidental death preference among Chinese residents was higher in rural areas than in urban areas, and males were higher than females. In terms of the causes of accidental death, the overall risk of accidental mechanical asphyxia and motor vehicle accidents was the highest among all age groups of Chinese residents. In terms of age, with the increase of age, the preference value of accidental death of Chinese residents showed a trend of first increasing and then decreasing. The comparative analysis results of the preference values of various causes of accidental death in different age groups showed that motor vehicle traffic accidents, accidental poisoning, death by crush and electric shock were more likely to occur in the working age group between 20 and 59 years old, accidental fall and fire were more likely to occur in the elderly group over 80 years old, and drowning and accidental mechanical asphyxia were more likely to occur in the minor group between 1 and 19 years old. Conclusion There are different preference relations between residence-sex-age groups and causes of accidental death in China. Therefore, effective control strategies and measures should be formulated for Chinese residents with preference for accidental death.
